I am enjoying the new style connectors and cables. Just one thing would make them perfect. We need rotating heads, like the other cables do. When you turn your device to Portrait, the cable gets in the way and it could cause damage over time. By having a rotating head, it doesn’t matter if the device is in landscape or portrait orientation. So… could we have rotating heads on these new style cables, please?

The new 'ultimate' cable seems to have successfully addressed several flaws in the design of the original connector. The new connectors fit more snugly in the USB socket so they don't pull out as easily as the original. The original cable tended to pull the plug out of the socket when the cable was being disconnected. The long oblong shape also seems to be more stable, the cable attaches more positively and doesn't tend to roll off the way the original did. The new plugs have a lower profile and are slimmer. I expect that they will be less likely to break apart the way the original plugs did. The original plugs usually lasted less than a year because the tops would break off.
